Weekend Photo - St.Lucia

Daniel In His St. Lucia Outfit
Canon EOS 20 D, 28-135 IS, EX 550 Flash, ISO 100
I love this photo of our son even though it looks like he just joined the Ku Klux Klan. Don't worry, his outfit is what the boys wear during the annual St. Lucia celebrations. It's an ancient celebration which quite a few countries in Europe honor. St.Lucia day takes place on December 13 and when Sandra and Daniel showed up late at school last year, without an outfit, the whole school was full of family members. Parents, grandparents, and other relatives. We had no idea it was such a big deal at school. This year, Sandra is determined to have an outfit and for both of us to be there early with camera in hand. The children have already been practicing the St. Lucia song repeatedly. I even caught Daniel serenading Annika with parts of the St. Lucia song the other morning. His singing is so-so but the thought was lovely.

Daniel is absolutely adorable! He is such a sweet kid to sing to his baby sister!
That’s a great photo.
Such a nice little boy. This is a wonderful picture, you really have an eye for this.
I remember reading about St. Lucia in the books I read as a child that were translated from swedish but unfortunatly it is a tradition that has not spread over here (unlike other foreign stuff, crappy Halloween comes to mind…).
So, how do I say “Happy St. Lucia” in swedish now?
He’s beautiful.
Absolutely adorable!
