Weekend Photo – Baptizing Our Children
Daniel, 8 months old
Since we're Catholics, I've converted since I really don't care, it's time to baptize our daughter Annika. We should actually have done this a long time ago but choosing God Parents caused some delays. This is a big deal in Mexico but I have trouble getting excited about it. With Daniel, we had a large ceremony in church followed by a private party but Annika will have to settle for something simpler due to time constraints.
We leave for Mexico on Saturday but will not spent much time in Mexico City due to the enormous problems with logistics, crime, and traffic in the world largest city. I must say that the baptism of Daniel was very nice with lots of people attending. Daniel behaved like a champion during both the church ceremony and the booze filled party afterwards. We rented a large mansion with a beautiful garden where we arranged for party tents and food. The kids had their own section, complete with inflatable toys, so us adults could focus on food and alcohol. It was a sunny and relaxing day with friends but by early evening, and lots of tequila, we were exhausted.
Annika will have to do with a smaller church ceremony and perhaps a get-together somewhere. We're planning a late birthday party for Daniel as well which will probably take place at Marios house, one of the many super nice relatives on Sandra's side of the family. We've held some nice celebrations there previously.
