Toddler Teamwork – Building For The Future
Teamwork is a beautiful thing, especially among toddlers and siblings. It's so innocent yet so effective. Teamwork is a great feeling, if you've been fortunate enough to be part of a great team you know exactly what I mean. My kids know how to share, I know how important it is and I will not accept any kind of bullshit behavior when it comes to sharing.
I still shudder when I think of the little girl sitting in the sandbox with eight toys and my son wants to borrow a plastic shovel. The girl goes crazy even though she still has seven other toys. I look at the mother with that special look which says, "please tell your daughter is alright to play with seven toys and let my son use one?!" The shocking response, "she doesn't want to share so I can't do anything", made me want to slap the mother. Best of luck when she's a teenager, bitch.
Teaching toddlers teamwork isn't always easy, we had an interesting experience with son who had the opposite problem of most kids. He shared too much. Any kid could walk up to Daniel at the playground and he would willingly give away his favorite toy. We told him he needed to say no at times which lead to him saying no all the time and getting into the "Mine, Mine, Mine" syndrome. But, he's an angel and this stage lasted about a week. Since then he's a champion of balancing sharing and teamwork with keeping his individuality.
My kids know how to share although they do have some fights. It's almost without exception my 2-year old dughter causing them with her stubborn behavior and lower lip trembling as she yells "Mine! Mine! Mine!". Yeah right, you picked the wrong father for that kind of bullshit. Below, a few favorites of my kids and teamwork.

What a wonderful post! Thank you for sharing! We have also been teaching Erik to share, team work, and take turns, especially needed in social settings. Erik knows how to share and he does often and much better now compared to the earlier toddler stage. However, there are still times when he doesn’t want to share.
