The stork is coming!

stork.jpgGreat news out of Stockholm.  We are pregnant again!  I already leaked a bit in the post below but this is  more of an "official" announcement.  Before we do start celebrating I must caution that it’s still relatively early in the pregnancy and a lot can still happen.  We are aware of the potential of a miscarriage but things are looking good so far.  Our very first pregnancy in NYC 2002 ended in an early miscarriage but we are praying all will go well this time.

I wanted to wait a bit longer before telling ANYONE but this is apparently impossible when you are married to a Mexican.  Sandra has definitely experienced this pregnancy more than with Daniel and has felt a need to talk to others to vent her feelings.  I can certainly respect that.  I didn’t want to tell anyone because it was early and how we would react in case things went the wrong way.  But we have talked it over and Sandra is very aware of the risks and feel comfortable telling some, not everyone, that she is pregnant.  It turns out that we do have a HUGE LEAK in our family who couldn’t stay quiet on this subject despite being told to put it in the vault and not tell anyone, under any circumstances.  Yeah right.  She leaked before anyone even asked her about it.  Without mentioning names I can say that the leak is on the Mexican side of the family……..

We are feeling very good about being pregnant.  After our three month trip to Mexico in the beginning of the year we decided to slowly start trying again.  Previously it has been very easy to get pregnant but not so this time.  Apparently I’m to old or maybe haven’t been having enough sex.  Scary thought!  Sandra has definitely felt some pressure and wanted to get pregnant quickly to get the whole thing over with quickly.  I feel extremely excited about having another child.   The feeling before Daniel was born was very different.  We were excited but at the same time a bit hesitant because we didn’t know exactly what to expect.  We were prepared  and never felt overwhelmed but the feeling is much different this time.  Part of our success with Daniel has of course been hard work but also a weird sense of how we wanted to raise Daniel from the very beginning. How we knew this i don’t know since we were beginners but it just came naturally.  I’m very strong mentally and also confident which I believe has contributed a lot in raising Daniel.  It’s odd but it seems like we have known in what direction to go despite being first time parents.  Perhaps a much larger part of our success with Daniel has been his incredible immune system, his constant laugh and good mood, and just overall being an "easy" kid.   Things are just so much easier when your child is constantly in a good mood and rarely gets any of those annoying colds or stomach bugs at kindergarten.   I guess that can change quickly but we have so far been very fortunate.
