Sony and RIAA, you are complete idiots!
It’s difficult not to be amazed over Sony’s stupid decisions in the past few weeks. Since my last post it has been discovered that their removal tool for their illegally installed spyware is full of security holes and actually makes things worse if you decide to use it. Latest news is that their previous copy protection tool from Sunncomm does pretty much the same thing. It installs secret files and when you try to remove them, with the tool Sony provided, you open up a giant security hole on your computer.
I was laughing my ass off yesterday when the state of Texas sued Sony over their secret spyware installations. They are already paying dearly for their mistakes and it’s just getting worse. People are starting to ask about copy protection before they buy a CD in the store and less people than before are willing to put up with it. That is excellent news since the overall public needs to be involved in the debate over electronic rights.
Once again a large company have showed that it’s not a good idea to treat customers like complete idiots. Something that also RIAA could learn something about. Their president is praising Sony over their great actions and is also saying that there is absolutely nothing wrong with installing spyware and root kits on customers computers. Why?? Because according to him all the companies do it. What a complete fucking idiot. Talk about inserting your foot in your mouth in a very stupid way. All this just reinforces my stand toward the music company and my promise never to pay for music or film again. That has never felt as right as it does at the moment.
Way to go Sony! Thanks for all the laughs
