Remembering The Other 9/11
9/11 hos gotten so politicized it disgusts people who were actually there. Like myself. Last year I decided to start annually remembering 9/11 for another tragedy that hasn't become a political farce. On September 11, 2003 Anna Lindh, the foreign minister of Sweden, was stabbed to death by a mentally disturbed person. She was a nice and special person, how special should be apparent by me even mentioning her despite hating politicians.Anna Lindh died in the prime of her life, 46 years old, and left a husband and two young kids behind. She was a happy person who always had a smile on her face and lit up any room she entered. She was well like by everyone. Anna was outspoken but in a nice way. She would openly say things other politicians only mentioned behind closed doors. She was no ordinary politician and once quoted from a Bob Dylan song during a speech at UN.
Said another politician:
"Outstanding was the word for Anna. Outstanding as a mother, outstanding as a political leader, because she was courageous and straightforward and she was honest,"
But she was also in touch with the younger generation:
"She was the only one who made me listen to politics. She could talk on our level. She could tell us things so simply,"
I despise politicians and especially the ones of Anna's political party so you must know she was different. She was likable and a normal person, except she was high up in government and would surely have become the next prime minister in Sweden had her life tragically not been cut short.
Remembering Anna means celebrating the freedom, safety, family values, and the open society we enjoy here in Sweden. I saw the towers in NYC fall from my high rise office windows and wish that I could still say the same nice things about that event. People lost that day, some that I knew personally, should always be remembered but it's really a shame how badly the government has screwed up in the post 9/11 world.
I'm sure that will never happen to Anna Lindh, the Swedes know better. We don't have aircraft carriers or Tomahawk missiles but you will never find a better place to raise a family. And that is something Anna probably would have been very proud of.

We made a point to celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries that are on 9/11. Why should anyone get screamed at by strangers for celebrating the day you were born? It is f-ed up, man.
Thanks for posting about that - I didn’t know she was attacked.
