Parenting Is (sometimes) So Easy

Do you ever have days when parenting seems soooooo easy? Days when it feels like 5 kids would be no problem a all. I'm currently on 6 months of paternity leave and things are usually running smoothly. But a day here and there (when hell freezes over and pigs fly) I feel like a parenting God.
Parenting reminds me of my previous job as a professional athlete. If you've done elite sports you know the feeling of being "in the zone". Everything goes well and you don't even have to think about what to do. Things seems to take care of themselves. Every now and then fatherhood is like that and it's simply incredible. Other fathers are even agreeing that parenthood is a piece of cake….
It might also be kind of dangerous. During those days I'm ready to open my own day care center, have 6 more kids, adopt a couple of orphaned children, give away half my not worth to anyone who asks, and say yes to anything wife wants to buy. And this is before I even have the first bottle of wine.
Things haven't always been so easy this past year. Our daughter is soon turning 1 year old and she's been challenging. colic, acid reflux, no patience, screaming and nagging a lot, and incredibly hard to please (like most women:-)) But things are now coming together nicely. Perhaps it has something to do with her now being able to walk run. it seems to have decreased her frustrations by 500%.
I've done some pretty cool things in my short life. It's stuff that most people will never experience. But I must say that being an involved father beats everything. Especially during these perfect fatherhood days when everything goes well seemingly without any effort (video clip below).
I hope you have one of these days every now and then. They are supreme confidence builders that every parent deserves.

Oh my! AD, you gotta stop bragging ;o) on the parenting thing! Hahaha! Sometimes Chhimi and I both can’t handle Erik at times and that’s when the label of “High Need” baby comes into mind. But I do agree there are times (seldom as they are) that the days are just perfect with Erik!
Love the little video of Daniel sharing ice cream with his little sister! He is such a good big brother and Annika seems to relish in the full-service provided LOL :o) hee hee
Yeah I know things are different on your side of the planet, but on my side(where they don’t offer 6 months of male-ternity leave) it’s I can do to keep up with one.
What a sweet, sweet video. I love how Annika just seems to KNOW that Daniel is going to give her some of his ice cream. I hope they continue to share so nicely in the future. We had a big fight over an airplane today. Mine were not in the sharing mood. Next time, I will show them this video as an example of good sibling behaviour.
