NYC without wife and son
Its great to be back in our old hometown again. We come here roughly twice a year on vacation and this time I'm doing a little work as well. We enjoy seeing some old friends, shop, and explore all the restaurants and bars. Since we are bringing Daniel on all our trips we are definitely hanging out less at the luxury restaurants and hot bars for convenience reasons. Its difficult to have a two year old to sit still and be quiet during a two hour dinner. No matter how nice the food is. Less Nobu, Asia de Cuba, Blue Water Grill, and The Post House. More casual places with plenty of room for a restless kid. But we do take turns, one stay home with Daniel and the other one goes out for a late night of fun with friends:-))
Sandra discovered a great place for kids on 5th avenue and 46th. Its called Build a Bear and what a fabulous place it is. Kids get to make their own personalized teddy bear or furry animal, complete with clothing and even a heart. Make your own t-shirt for your furry friend. Finish off the experience with lunch in their excellent café with your own teddy bear at your side. For desert you will create your own personalized gingerbread cookie. Trust me, your kid will have a great time. And I can just imagine the endless possibilities for birthday parties.
Sandra and Daniel did have a very short stay here in NYC but they wanted to get down to see the family in Mexico City. Daniel handled the jet lag fine but it took four days for all of us to get rid of the seven hour time difference from Sweden. For the first couple of days we all woke up at 4 am and couldn't sleep any longer. Someone must have called children's services after they saw me walking around the streets of Manhattan at 04.30 am with a a little toddler. I stopped by work with Daniel on their last day at 05.30 am to pick up a few things and got some funny looks when I entered the building with Daniel and some toys:-))
The trip down to Mexico was excellent for mother and son. The airline was very helpful and Sandra didn't have to carry Daniel or any of the bags at the airport. They got the bulkhead seats, caught a couple of hours of sleep, and Daniel even made friends with some other kid and ending playing with him for an hour. Wife and son in Mexico means a few days of single life in NYC!! I'm a good boy so there is nothing to worry about. I will only visit one strip club per night. Perhaps two:-)) Each day is already booked up for lunch and dinner and I also hope to squeeze in a little shopping. Tuesday night we got a sky box to see a Rangers game (against Buffalo), Wednesday we got a corporate event at BB King in Times Square and on Thursday I'm supposed to meet MetroDad. Saturday morning I fly down to Mexico for a month of vacation. Really looking forward to the nice weather, its freezing here in NYC.
