Those were the words coming out the bathroom yesterday. Did I mention that my kids were the only ones in there? My almost 4-year old son and 15 month old daughter? The Swedish are well known for having a casual and healthy attitude towards sex but my kids are perhaps a bit young to start talking about sex. Turns out our 15 month old daughter finds pulling private parts funny as hell, which my son laughs about until she pulls too hard.
My friend Her Bad Mother also has a daughter with a funny way of exploring her private parts. I would love to see what WonderBaby and Annika would come up with together……. Annika's interest for this fun male thing came from her mother out of nowhere. One day Daniel walked out of the shower and Annika walked right up to him and pulled his penis as hard as she could. I could barely stop laughing but my son was in pain. Since then this has become somewhat of a tradition.
I could just imagine what some parents would think of this. Like our ridiculous Latin friend who panics and reprimands her daughter simply for breathing air. Kids talking about male organs at this young age, must be very dangerous? I don't have a problem with it. I rather have my children talking openly about everything than hiding things from me. Through the years I have found that forbidding kids from doing or talking about certain things is a sure way they'll keep doing it. I'm just amazed that some parents never learn.
Our nightly shower session have now turned into a cat and mouse game between daughter and son. Annika shows up when he's almost done showering and waits there with a smile. My son also laughs but is sure quick covering himself up with a towel. Overall it's a great thing to see. My two kids having fun and playing with each other ( and a penis). I hope my daughter gets this out of her system until she she becomes a teenager……..
And when she’s a teenager, then what? ;)
You have the right attitude… you can’t fuss about this stuff when they’re so young… as they get a little older you start introducing the “privacy” issue!
thank God you are so cool. i am tired of uptight parents who screw up their kids heads by making it taboo so early..
She’ll grow out of it. I’ve found saying no and hiding the truth only makes them want to do it more; without you knowing about it. Besides, both children are learning their differences young and there’s nothing wrong with doing so. They’re kids having innocent fun.
