Monthly Update : Daniel 19 months old

Dear Daniel,
You are turning 19 months old and we are so proud of you. It has been a busy month for you. Your cousin from Mexico was here for a month, you started kindergarten, and you began calling your daddy by name. It was great to see how well you and Ximena got along. You played without fighting a single time. You hugged each other and held hands like young lovers. It was amazing to see how calm you were while she constantly screamed. You napped while she screamed, you ate while she screamed, and you slept while she screamed. Mommy and Daddy were incredibly proud of how well you behaved.
Kindergarten started off with lots of crying. It must have been difficult for you to be without mommy or daddy. And also your most precious possession, favorite blanket "snuttis". We are very glad the school let you use it selectively to feel more secure and now you barely realize when it’s missing. The people at the school refer to you as sunshine because you smile so much. We are not surprised. To wake up every morning and see you with that big smile is just amazing. I was thinking about this the other day. In the past six months you have woken up with a huge smile on your face every single day except a few times. The few times you didn’t smile you were busy barfing in Norway or had a cold at home. It’s such a great feeling seeing you smile in the morning, it gives a whole new meaning to waking up.
This month you have finally realized that daddy exist. You are now saying "pappa" all day long. I love it!! You are babbling a lot more but it’s still very much Klingon. Don’t you worry. We know it takes time to figure out three languages at once. Your fascination with keys continues. Not just any keys, it has to be the most important keys of the house. The Ipod is also making a comeback in popularity. You used to love sucking on the ear buds but now you want to be more like mommy and daddy. You actually put the ear buds in your ears, turn on the Ipod, and move your head to the music with a big smile. Priceless!!!
We faced one major crisis this month, Cochecito broke down. Your beloved little plastic car lost a wheel which did not really surprise us. The speeds you are reaching are pretty impressive. Mommy panicked and immediately bought a similar replacement hoping you wouldn’t notice the difference. After some initial hesitation you are know loving the new addition. But what should we call it? Pappa will try to repair original cochecito and use it as a backup. Just in case we once again face a similar crisis.
You are understanding so much more of what we say to you. It’s so wonderful to see how you are developing into this little person. When you bathe you help to undress. You apply lotion to your body by yourself. You even throw away your dirty diapers. Another month and you will be undressing alone and pouring yourself a glass of single malt. Oh, I almost forgot, you like beer better.
Love Pappa

GREAT photos. I love the one with Daniel in the car.
Oh man, I laughed hard when I saw the Budweiser in the car. Nothing like starting them young!
