Microsoft Autoroute – Great for travel

When I planned our trip to Norway I was wondering what the best route would be.  I knew about Norway’s slow roads and had to drive in areas of Sweden I didn’t know.  Since I’m way over on the geek side I downloaded and installed Microsoft Autoroute Europe 2005. I love this software.  The map functions are impressive.  You can zoom in to street levels in most places in Europe.  It has a search function so you can find new places quickly.  The route planner give you direction based on your criteria.  You want the shortest or fastest way? Only larger highways?   In case you’re still living in year 1970 and bring cash on our trips you can calculate gas cost when traveling by car.  You can find rest stops, restaurants, and pretty much anything you care for on your route.  You can adjust your driving speed to see expected driving times etc.   If you are a super geek and have GPS you can use that on your trip to see where you are.

In case you are traveling to areas you don’t know, regardless if it’s by car or not, I would highly recommend this program.  Download, install, and take it for a test drive.
