Man down

Posting have been light for the past week because of an injury this past weekend. I was playing tennis and ripped my right calf muscle. Since then I’m on crutches until I get better. Estimated recovery time is unfortunately at least a couple of months which sucks. But I should be back in the gym tomorrow working the rest of my body and hopefully i will also be able to do some biking

  1. Dude! So sorry to hear the bad news. That totally sucks. I’ve never ripped a calf muscle but I’ve torn ligaments, broken bones and shredded labrums. I’m feeling your pain and wishing you a speedy recovery. Again, so sorry to hear.

  2. I wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully it will not take as long as you think.

  7. I ripped my right calf muscle back on October 1, 2005. I was in a boot cast and on crutches. Here it is February 1st and I am still going to the doctor and having trouble with it. I hope you have a better recovery than I have had. Watch out for the ankle swelling.

  8. Hi, I took a fall skiing and felt a sharp tug in my left calf as the binding released. The calf swelled immidiately but little pain and I was able to ski down to the parking lot without difficulty and with more difficulty hobble to my car. Thinking I had just stained the muscle a little I massaged the calf in my jacuzzi. Next day my calf had swollen to three times normal but little pain just stiff. I went to the medical clinic and onto ultrasound where a near complete detachment of the inner calf muscle was diagnosed. Apparently the muscle remaind attached to the achilles by just a thread. Everyone except the specialist has said I would need surgery. I am in a moonboot and am told it will take 6-8 weeks to heal and to start physiotherapy in four weeks. Still no pain the ultrasound guy said this was because it is basically completely detached that movementwas not tearing the attachment any further. I do not want any remaining disability – is there any treatment I should be insisting upon?

  10. Hi,
I ripped my calf muscle last week. Internal hemmorhage was so bad that MD thought I had a DVT, but it came back negative, but I’m still scared it will turn into one. I am in so much pain, it has been one week. Happened during racquetball, 10 minutes into a game with myself. I wasnt even really playing , dont know how, just bouncing ball off the walls and running to hit it. Unbelievable. I cant straigten my leg now, because of pain, or point toes towards me, I dont want the muscle to heal shortened. I am scared. please , anyone, either reply here, or email me at daggybee@aol.com thanks.
