It’s official, I do exist!
My son has made me very happy this weekend. He’s finally calling me "pappa" (daddy in Swedish). He has been saying the word before but then it was more of a general babble and not directed at me. To be honest, I’m not bothered if he never says "pappa" but I think it’s a nice thing to hear. Now he runs to the door just before 5 PM and asks for "pappa" since he knows I will be arriving soon.
You might think that he’s speaking really late and that’s true. His vocabulary doesn’t include that many words yet. There are lots of words coming out of his mouth but it sounds more like Klingon to me and is kind of hard to understand. The main reason for that is the many languages that he’s learning. He’s having to learn three languages, not separately but at once. We’re doing Swedish, Spanish, and English so I can understand if things take a bit longer than usual. We are not doing some kind of weird science project on our son, those are the languages we speak at home. Hot Wife is Mexican so we got to include Spanish. I’m Swedish so we got to include that language too. We have spent a large part of our lives in USA so we do speak English to each other. I kind of count myself as half-American because of my many years in the US. Of course I speak Spanish as well and Hot Wife is fluent in Swedish. I also speak German but that language is about as useful nowadays as Finish. Germany has disintegrated and is doing about as well as Kazakhstan

Congrats, Pappa. Must be a great feeling to hear your child call for you by name. I can’t wait. Also, I think it’s very cool that your child will be so multi-lingual. It’s so rare here in the States. Most people can barely speak English well. We’re hoping to have our little Peanut conversant in at least 2-3 languages. I think it makes for a much richer life experience.
