First phone conversation

Daniel has suddenly started speaking a LOT.  Speaking might be a bit misleading since he knows five words in Spanish, three in Swedish, and apparently speaks fluent Klingon.  He’s always loved  phones, both home phone and mobile phone.  He can walk around the house with a phone to his ear and have a conversation with, ehh,  no one.  Previously he has been able to listen to my voice over the phone but not said anything back. Perhaps a smile but nothing more.  But now we seem to have entered a new phase.

Yesterday I had a five minute phone "conversation" with Daniel and it was fabulous. It’s so nice to hear him open up  more and search for words.  Now I can barely speak to Hot Wife  because offspring wants to chat with me.  He keeps on saying "pappa", "pappa", and then another thousand words that has no meaning unless you are related to Worf in Star Trek and actually speak Klingon.  Daniel also called someone else on the phone and talked for a while.  Who it was we don’t know.  We are praying that it wasn’t an international call to China.  Sandra heard him walking around talking on the phone while she was busy making breakfast.  As she got closer she could hear him speak but there was also a  voice on the other end.  As she grabbed the phone Daniel hang up so we actually don’t know if we will have an extra $50 bucks on the monthly bill.

  1. We went over to a friend’s house the other day and saw my buddy’s daughter walking around with a phone and yelling “No! No! No!” into it. When we asked her parents what their daughter was doing, they smiled sheepishly and said that their daughter was imitating her father. She’d seen him like that so many times, she thought that’s what phones were for. Absolutely hilarious.

By the way, another great photo!

  2. WOW I know Kling on too!

they teach it now in first grade!

  4. Isn’t talking on the phone with kids great. I always feel bad because I just say the same thing over and over. I like the picture too.

  5. Ninetenn months then okay. My littlest one will chat away on the toy phone but is still shocked into silence when she hers another voice coming through. Maybe in a few more months she’ll actually ‘talk’
