For the past 9 days I've been taking care of the household by myself while hot wife is in Mexico on a pleasure business trip. It's been a little hectic at times but worked out extremely well. The kids have been behaving like a dream the whole time. The day before the trip looked a bit shaky but everything has been great.
You can tell when you're trusted with the kids, Sandra left without a word of advice or caution. No check list, important numbers, hospital records, school routines, shopping list, or things to watch out for. "Good luck, see you in 11 days" was all she said. I didn't expect anything else, she knows the kids are in very good hands.
This week has been extra busy since Annika started day care at 17 months. I've spent every day with her at school to give her a feeling of confidence and security. That's the standard routine at our day care at it works very well. Today I simply dropped her off and went home. She cried a bit but I'm sure everything will be fine.
I've spent 24/7 with the kids for 9 days so it feels very strange sitting at home. Alone. It's totally quiet and someone doesn't constantly need my immediate attention. Was this really the way things felt before I had kids?
