Don’t ever let your child nap in NYC

Sandra shopping at Saks

Napping is usually a good thing, but not when you're in NYC.  Napping is apparently a codeword among women.  The meaning?  Shopping!  Daniel's two hour nap in the new Mountain Buggy Urban Double on our last day in NYC turned out to be pretty expensive.  To my wife's defense I must admit that the service at Saks is outstanding.

I always seemed to have some good luck in this store.  When I  moved to NYC in 1997 I walked in during their 4th of July sale and had the luck of meeting, Michael,  a really nice sales guy in the suit section.  It must have looked odd since I was in the mens formal wear section wearing crappy jeans shorts, a hat, and sneakers.  With Michael's assistance I walked out of there a couple of hours later with four suits by Ermenegildo Zegna and Boss.  I love their clothing! After that he became my personal shopper at Saks.  He would call me up when they had some nice sales and I would stop by and do a little shopping.  They also  had an excellent tailor there who  tailored all my suits regardless if I bought them there or not.

I really like to stop by the store when we are in town, especially with Daniel.  They LOVE kids.  And they have some seriously hot women in their sales departments.  The first few trips Daniel was very little so I carried him in a Baby Björn and almost got mobbed by the women working there. It's not common with men taking care of the kids in NYC you know….  No offense to MetroDad and Cheeky! I knew they all came up to me because of Daniel but I still liked it:-))  The gay guys always hit on us as well which was kind of amusing as well.  Now Daniel is a toddler but we still get almost the same attention every time we visit the store.

  1. It’s such a shame that my girls are not “Stroller nappers.” I am sure my husband is quite grateful! I really miss the shopping in New York, particularly Barney’s. Heck, New Jersey shopping was OK too. The shopping here in Cincinnati is sorely lacking. I haven’t been in a mall in months–there’s no point. I’ll shop online until we move. Hopefully, we will live somewhere that has an IKEA close by!

BTW–love the stroller. We got the Schwinn Safari TT Double Jogger in the fall and love it. The swivel wheel in front makes all the difference.

  2. napping is the perfect time for SHOPPING!!!
