Monthly Update : Daniel - 18 months old

Dear Daniel,

You’re turning 18 months today!  Me and mommy were talking the other day about your first day out of the hospital.  It was a cold February day and we had to heat up the car before we could strap you into the seat.  This was the first week of your life but mommy was already incredibly picky.  That car temperature had to be just perfekt or you were not going near the car.  You looked so cute in your outfit and that blue hat.  Thank God you fell asleep straight away because at that point we didn’t really know what to do with a crying baby.  We have not referred to you as a "baby" for quite some time now.  You have been upgraded to a "toddler". Or as I call you, "super toddler".

danielslide.jpgYou have done some more traveling this past month and seen a new country.  Our trip to Göteborg was a big success and I’m sure you agree with that.  I’m sorry we couldn’t bring the blue door from the hotel playroom with us.  It was clearly one of the most fun play experiences you’ve had so far but I think the hotel would have wondered where the door went.  You might see it as bad service from the hotel but I see it as one charge less on my AMEX card.  And there are already way too many.

You have also gotten to know Norway this month.  A trip which ended a bit rough for you with some puking and irritated stomach but the trip was fun.  You got to snuggle with sheep and almost kissed some cows as well.  You saw a chair lift for the first time and that was very confusing.  You also went on some super heavy duty hikes in the the Norwegian mountains.  I can assure you that you and that stroller went where no stroller has ever gone before.  Too bad you didn’t get to see all the nice mountain views daddy saw on his bike rides.

danielhorse.jpgI’m hearing a lot of "hola" coming out of your month.  Occasionally also a few "titta" and of course lots of "mamma".  Still waiting for that nice word "pappa"………  In the past few days you’re talking more than ever before.  I can tell that more words are just around the corner.

Your hand-eye coordination has improved greatly this month and your running is looking less like a runaway moose.  You’re definitely like mommy in one area, you fall down when you get very tired.  A lot!

You rode a horse for the first time this month and that was something you loved.  You looked like a professional the way your body was moving.  Your kite flying abilities are not top notch.  I know it was your first flight but letting go of the line is not the way to go.  I’m sure mommy can testify to that after she had to step on a fence and climb a tree to help you out.

It must be weird to see your family from Mexico here in Sweden.  Especially since Ximena can’t stop screaming, doesn’t know how to sleep, and has horrible eating habits.  That is if she ever eats.  You love to copy other people but lets hope you stay clear of her habits..

danielsmallslide.jpgThis months biggest event is definitely todays event, your first day in kindergarden!  Since mommy is not working we don’t need to have you at school but we think it’s a great idea for you too meet new kids and learn some more skills.  And mommy gets a little more time for herself and her hobbies.  I’m sure you will be a star in kindergarden.   You’re so kind with other kids and will most certainly flirt with all the teachers all day long.  Just like mommy.

I read a lot or other parent blogs and they always have these horrible stories about how their kid freaks out, can’t stop screaming, can’t stand riding in a car, hates to fly, doesn’t eat well, sleeps terribly, or just plainly drive them crazy.  I’m very proud and incredibly happy to say that we have no such stories (yet…..?) .  Wherever we go you charm the hell out of everyone with your smile and those brown eyes. You are indeed an angel.  An angel with an occasional temper but me and mommy are very proud over how you handle yourself in all situations.  It makes our lifes so much easier.

danielrobe.jpgWe are trying to make the AdventureDad household larger and get you a little sister/brother but so far no luck.  It will be an almost impossible task to be blessed with another one as perfect as you.  We have really struck gold.  We’re just praying our next offspring willl not have the capabilities of the Ximenus……….

Love, Daddy
