Daddy bloggers night out in NYC
I had the pleasure of meeting Pierre from MetroDad and Tony from Cheekys Hideaway last night. Before I went to NYC I emailed MetroDad and asked him if he wanted to meet up for some heavy drinking serious discussions about life. There are of course many more Daddy bloggers in the NYC area but at least this is a good start. MD picked out a great place downtown, Brandy Library, and we set a time for our blind date. We had some nice single malt whiskey, wine, martinis, and some food. We talked about pretty much everything and had a nice time. It was great to meet the people behind the blogs and get to know them a little better. They are both funny and have some very entertaining blogs. They are also involved in another blog project, DadCentric, where a group of guys write cool stuff on a wide variety of subjects. Go check it out!
What we all have in common is of course that we are fathers of very young children. And we all want to be cool fathers. Cool fathers is perhaps the wrong word. We want to be great fathers but at the same time enjoy life and have something meaningful to do. That may sound easy but I don’t think it is. At least not for me. We talked about our kids, travel, sports, and life in general. If you tried you could probably not find three people with more different backgrounds. And thats the great thing. I really enjoy meeting people who have lived a very different life than myself. Its just refreshing to hear and I always learn something.
I’m heading down to Mexico tomorrow for 4 weeks of vacation. We arrive back in NYC for a single day in the end of February before we fly to Sweden. But because of illness at work in NYC there is a chance I might be staying here to work an additional couple of weeks in February. Nothing decided yet but hopefully that will work out. A couple of additional weeks in NYC would be great!:-))

Very cool that you got to meet Metro Dad. Meeting bloggers face to face must be interesting.
I haven’t met any fellow bloggers yet. Did it hurt?
well put! i feel the same way, i want to be a great and dedicated mother while still having meaningful and fun adult things in my life. i think hip/cool-ness is something either gender strives to hang on to while spending WAY more time in the house and performing tasks related to another person’s bodily waste
