Another False Alarm?

"Mommy, you must have swallowed my soccer ball?!! Your stomach is huge!!!!"Sandra woke me up at 3 am this morning with some big news.  "This is it, I've been having strong contractions for a couple of hours.  I'm sure the contractions are real".  Our bags have been packed ages ago but I got up and made some last minute checking and put down a few essential items. Good thing I was so tired otherwise I might have been nervous.  I considered calling the hospital and telling hem we would soon be on our way but decided to wait.  After staying up for a while I went back to bed and fell asleep.  I woke up every now and then to ask Sandra how things were and she was still having contractions, but with diminishing intensity.  After waking up at 08.15 am I  considered calling the hospital to let them know things were happening but I waited.  Sandra was still having some small contractions so I had to make food for Daniel to bring along a planned day care outing and then take him biking to school.  We were rushing but made it with plenty of time.  On the short way home I hoped Sandra was alright and that it was time to go to the hospital.  What happened?  Nothing. That's what happened.

Cruising the neighorhood while waiting for his sisterContractions slowed down and then stopped just as we were gearing up to have our baby girl.  Sandra is now out having lunch with some friends instead of giving birth to our daughter.  All this waiting and false alarms is kind of funny and certainly helps us to joke and take the edge off the seriousness of the situation.  We're really relaxed by now and ready for pretty much anything.  I just hope our baby is still healthy and doing well.  Sandra's mom was nervous this morning since she got absolutely nothing done.  She was just running around in circles.  So we'll continue another day of waiting after having past the due date.  No pregnancies in Sweden are allowed to go more than two weeks over the time, 42 + 0 days, so we have about another week if things don't work out as planned. After two weeks over the time some drugs are administered that start the child birth by "fooling the body".  It's standard procedure and nothing advanced.  Research has shown there's no benefit for a child to stay longer than 42 weeks in the mother's womb which is good to know.  Daniel s doing very well and has been pretty much normal during all this commotion.  He clearly understands here is something going on but I can't wait to show him our baby girl.  I want to see his face when he realizes he's now a big brother!

I forgot to mention names.  We've had four names on the list for a while.  Melissa (as in Issa's World), Alexandra, Isabella, and Anna.  We've dropped Melissa, sorry Melissa, and don't know more than that.  I'm amazed over how much impact other people with similar names have.    If a person I dislike has "our name" it becomes impossible for us to use it.  Perhaps that's silly but that has been a pattern so far.  And I do know someone named Alexandra that makes it difficult to use that name.  We'll think about some more and make a decision.  Any suggestions?  Only criteria is that the name must work in many countries so we're looking for a nice international name.

Hopefully more news to follow soon
